Generator London - A vibrant budget hostel near King's Cross with a bar, games room, and event space

Generator London is a large, vibrant hostel in Bloomsbury, housed in a converted police station 5 minutes from Russell Square station. The hostel features bold graphics, industrial design elements like exposed brickwork, and a lounge area with wooden pods and communal tables. A mix of dormitory and private rooms are available, with bunk beds featuring personal shelves, charging stations with USB ports, and under-bed lockers. Generator offers free walking tours of London, an internet cafe, and a games room with pool tables. The famous Generator Bar, decorated with a classic red London bus, serves ice-cold local beers and signature cocktails, with special nightly deals. Located near King's Cross and Euston transport hubs, the hostel is a short walk from Covent Garden, Regent's Park, and the British Museum.

Pros

Free Wi-Fi and female-only dorms available.

Proximity to major transport hubs like King's Cross and Euston.

Lively bar with nightly drink specials and an authentic London Routemaster bus.

Free walking tours provide an English-language overview of the city.

Cons

Towels cost £5 to rent, which may inconvenience budget travelers.

Shared bathrooms and dormitory-style accommodations may not suit all guests.

“There's a vibrant energy to this hostel, particularly in the bar and restaurant, which feels a cut above typical hostel fare, with a breakfast buffet that's both varied and a good value. Its proximity to King's Cross and the British Museum makes it a practical base for exploring, and the friendly, helpful staff create a welcoming atmosphere. For a traveler seeking a social atmosphere and convenient location, this spot definitely has its merits.”
